New Dexis X-ray System in Up and Running!!!

At Lakeside Dental Clinic, in Nanaimo BC, we strive to make our patients as comfortable as possible.

One of our recent updates to our dental office was switching our x-ray system to a digital format.

Since dental x-rays are usually part of a standard dental check-up we found a system that not only takes clearer, more accurate x-rays for our patients but it also reduces the amount of radiation exposure at the same time.

Depending on your oral health history, most patients usually need to have dental x-rays taken every 1-2 years.  The dental x-rays that we take allow your dentist to more closely monitor the health of your teeth and gums, so that any changes or potential problems can be detected early, when treatment is most effective.

Some of the things your dentist looks for with x-rays are;
  • Tooth decay, also known as cavities or caries, between the teeth or under your filings
  • Infections in and around your teeth and bones
  • Gum (periodontal) disease
  • An abscess which can form around the roots of your teeth
  • Changes in your teeth of bones
  • Dental development problems (in children)
  • The location of an impacted tooth (wisdom teeth)
The nice thing about the digital format is that it will allow you to see your dental x-rays up on the flat screen monitors instantly so we can explain any abnormalities found and explain how we can help you.

Bonus- the system makes our office greener as it removes the need to use harsh chemicals to develop the film.
